I’ve written a few scenes of a Glee episode and I thought I’d put it on here :)
Episode: 3 x 01 ‘Family’
Little summary: This episode shows them dealing with the issue of family. The topic addresses some memories that are trying to be forgotten and the audience learns more about certain characters families.
It is only 2 and a half scenes but who knows, I may write some more! Oh and I managed to get continuity in there so it actually makes sense :|
1. INT. THE CORRIDORS OF WILLIAM MCKINLEY HIGH SCHOOL. DAY.
The camera follows RACHEL BERRY as she walks down the corridor. She is surrounded by students going about their business between lessons. She has a dejected face and appears to be lost in thought.
RACHEL (voice over)
A new term and our last year at McKinley. This has to be our year, we deserve to win. No, in fact we have to win. After everything we’ve been though… after everything I’ve been through. My whole life I have been working toward this, and I know it isn’t supposed to be easy. I mean, just look at Barbara. She had to go through so much to become the sensation she is today. I just want this so badly…
(she walks into the choir room. All the Glee club members are sitting in various chairs talking, whispering, texting, doing each other’s hair. FINN HUDSON waves at Rachel and beckons her over to an empty chair beside him.)
(MR. SCHUESTER enters)
Okay guys, this year there’s going to be no messing around. We need to focus. However, before we can do that, I want you guys to think about what has changed between us in the last two years.
Everyone has accepted that I have the most talent in this group.
Everyone hates Rachel more than they did two years ago.
(a few laughs. Finn puts his arm around Rachel)
I meant our dynamic. Sure you fall out now and again but this journey we’ve been on has made us into a family.
(NOAH ‘PUCK’ PUCKERMAN pretends to gag)
(whispers to Santana)
I told you so.
(Will turns towards the white board and writes in big letters ‘family’)
So this week I want to all to pick a song that truly expresses an idea of family. Now I know some of you may disagree and say that you still hate everyone (a few people turn to look at Santana), but I know deep down inside that you don’t. And if you all do, well I might even sing a song.
Dear God, please no rapping.
No Kurt, I won’t rap!
(opening sequence and credits)
2. INT. CHOIR ROOM. DAY
The Glee kids are still in the choir room chatting about song choices. Zoom in on LARUEN ZIZES talking to PUCK.
So Puckerman, what kind of song do you think you’re going to sing?
(whilst LAUREN is speaking, QUINN FABRAY is seen leaving the room, upset. No-one follows her however, PUCK notices)
Give me a minute.
(he gets up and runs after QUINN)
Yo, Quinn wait up.
(QUINN does not turn around and keeps walking with her head down. PUCK runs to catch up with her)
(looks up and speaks softly)
What do you want?
I want to sing with you. About… about Beth.
(there is an awkward silence. Finally QUINN speaks)
Puck, please, no. I can’t. You know I can’t.
Yes, you can. You have to. I still think about her. The way she felt in my arms. The way she smelt…
(realises what he has been saying, coughs, and tries to act cool)
Look Quinn, you can’t keep burying it down, you need to deal with it. Don’t forget her.
Forget her! How could I forget her? I gave birth to her Puck and then I just had to give her up. It’s not fair. And now Finn is with Rachel and you have Lauren and I keep telling myself I don’t care but I do. I just want what everyone else has. Brittany, Santana, Kurt, Mike, Tina… everyone has someone who loves them (begins to cry)
I’m sorry Puck, this is why I don’t like talking about her. I want to sing with you, I do but not yet. I just need time.
(she turns and walks away leaving Puck in the corridor, alone)
(quietly and gently)
3. INT. RACHELS BEDROOM. DAY
RACHEL and FINN are sitting in Rachel bedroom on her bed. FINN is scrolling through Rachel’s pink bedazzled IPod.
Do you have any songs on here that are, you know, normal?
Oh Finn, clearly you don’t understand the intricacies and emotional depth of Broadway songs. Speaking of songs, I’ve decided what song I’m going to sing in Glee. (without giving Finn a chance to speak she carries on) I’m going to do ‘Homeward Bound’ by Simon and Garfunkel. It will be dedicated to my dads. It’s the perfect choice as it highlights the emotion and journey that I will be undertaking while I’m on Broadway.
